The "quick shot" helps in maximizing the cameras effectiveness. The user can choose 1,2 or 3 shots, which allows the camera to capture animals that might be following one another. One example might be a Buck following a doe down a trail, the doe crosses the cameras path first so the camera captures her picture, instead of the camera going into it's set pause time before capturing another picture, our camera stores the image just taken then keys up to capture another image.

The early detection sensor helps eliminate missing or just capturing the tail end of an animal that might cross in front of the camera at a quick pace. The way the sensor works is that it has five detection zones that detect just within the edge of the picture window and covers the cameras entire field of view. With this feature the camera is triggered earlier and almost doubles the amount of time it has to capture the animal's picture opposed to a standard one zone sensor found in many cameras.

Leaf River Digital InfraRed Camera comes with a switch with two settings, one for a faster trigger speed and the other for an extended battery life. This switch can be adjusted without entering the camera's menus. The fast trigger setting is designed for the user to set the camera up in an area that animals are going to be passing though at a quicker pace and only has a limited amount of time to capture the picture, such as a trail. The Battery Save setting allows the user to set the camera up in a remote location and leave it for months at a time without the use of a solar panel or external power supply.
