Introducing
the first GPS dog tracking system:
Garmin Astro 220 GPS
Garmin Astro
is specifically designed for hunters, but works really well for
folks running other kinds of dogs that require tracking.
The new rugged
Astro DC 30 collar / transmitter is a complete stand alone unit.
The DC 30 has a top mounted, low profile GPS antenna and a side
mounted "whip" antenna for the radio signal that sends
the location information to the Astro handheld unit.
The DC-30
doesn't require the use of any additional counterweight, ecollar,
or vest to keep the unit on the dog. Just buckle it on and go!
Built tough
enough to handle the rough terrain where your dog hunts.
Track your
dogs in heavy cover without making a sound.
Know where
he is and what he's up to!

The Dog GPS computes
its location from the GPS satellites and detects whether your dog
is moving, on point, or treed. The Dog GPS sends that info to your
Handheld GPS every 5 seconds. The Handheld GPS plots the exact location
of your dog on a map, shows distance, and whether your dog is moving,
on point or treed. On your Handheld GPS, the MAP SCREEN shows your
location, your dog's location, and the path that your dog has hunted.
HOW
IT WORKS: The Garmin Astro system consists of two components:
a Handheld GPS unit (Astro 220) which looks like a walkie-talkie and
a Dog GPS Collar Unit (Astro-DC-30) with a whip style antenna that
transmits your dog's location via radio signal.
Garmin
- Dog GPS - Astro DC 30 (only) Additional Collar / Extra Transmitter
Astro can track up to ten dogs per "Handheld GPS" receiver
at one time. Add additional Astro DC 30s as needed. This is the "dog
half" of the Garmin Astro System. The DC 30 is the transmitter
that relays the dog's position to the handler's Astro 220. The Astro
collar gives location updates as often as every five seconds.
Garmin
GPS Tracking for More than One Dog
Got another dog? No problem. Add a "Dog GPS" to your Garmin
Astro combo any time you want (up to 10 dogs). Get an additional "Handheld
GPS" for your hunting buddy so you can both track all of your
bird dogs at the same time.
SCREENSHOTS
-- Garmin Astro 220 GPS
Dog Tracker
Screen
This screen shows your dog using an arrow on an easy to read compass
screen. It shows which direction your dog is in, how far he is from
you, and if he is running or on point. If you are running multiple
dogs all wearing Astro units, each dog will show on the compass with
a different color for each dog allowing you to tell them apart from
each other.
Map Screen
The MAP SCREEN shows each dog and... any waypoints that you have programmed
in (truck, fieldhouse, coveys, ATV, etc) the areas where each dog
has run so you can tell what ground has been covered. if your dog
is running or on point.
Dog Info
Screen
The DOG INFO SCREEN shows you the current state of each dog. The biggest
advantage of this screen is that it allows you to monitor the battery
life of the dog's unit. As the reading gets low you can pick up your
dog and take your unit in to recharge it. DOG INFO SCREEN shows dog's
current state - moving or on point average speed, distance.
Covey
Counter Screen
Mark the exact location of a covey find, the number of birds in it,
the number of birds taken, exact time of day that you found them and
the elevation.

The Astro 220 handheld GPS has a removeable microSD card slot that
allows you to add additional maps including detailed maps such as
